Down and puffer jackets take slightly longer than flat garments because of the filling process and the need to verify baffle construction. The fill weight is measured per garment, and the shell must be checked for down-proof performance, so the sewing and finishing stages carry a little extra time compared to a woven shirt or a basic bomber.

What Determines Whether It Takes 7 or 14 Days

The main variable is whether your style is new or already developed. Material availability is the second big variable. Stock fabrics from our library are cut immediately. Custom colors need a lab dip round first, and custom-developed fabrics need a mill run, which is why those programs are quoted with the full 12 to 14 day window or longer. If the fabric is supplied by you, add the time it takes for the fabric to arrive at our factory before cutting can start.

Season timing also matters. During peak season, the sample room prioritizes confirmed orders in sequence, so requesting a sample in August for a winter collection is smoother than requesting the same sample in October when every brand is rushing. Booking your sampling slot early is the simplest way to protect your calendar.

Sample Fees and What They Cover

Sample fees range from $50 to $200 per style depending on complexity, materials, and the number of pieces. The fee covers pattern work, material cutting, sewing labor, filling, finishing, and the inspection that happens before shipment. It does not include shipping, which is quoted separately based on the destination and carrier.

Instead of "the fit is off", specify the measurement: chest too tight by 2 centimeters, sleeve length needs to increase by 1.5 centimeters, or the armhole should be dropped. Specific comments let the pattern maker adjust the pattern in one pass, while vague comments often require a second round to interpret.
